The faculty for chemistry and pharmacy

We're pleased that you're interested in the Faculty for Chemistry and Pharmacy at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität!

Our Faculty has embarked upon innovative, future-oriented teaching methods which have now produced the first graduates of the new "Pharmaceutical Sciences" program. The Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry have also established the Römer Foundation which honors the best graduates and researchers at an annual ceremony. And the introduction of study fees promises to improve the scope of the Faculty's programs.

Research successfully conducted over the past two years can be viewed in the Forschungsbericht (Research Report). One aspect of this is the creation of the Excellence Cluster "Center for Integrated Protein Science Munich (CIPSM)", which brings together life scientists from diverse Munich institutions.
Many Faculty members have been the recipients of internationally renowned awards such as the Leibniz Prize of the DFG (German Research Society). Our Faculty now boasts five recipients of that prize, and, we have undertaken to attract outstanding German researchers working in the United States. Third-party funding has been boosted by the establishment of a second, DFG-financed special research area which deals with dynamic chemical processes.
